Let's carve out space to sit with the questions you never have time to ask.

Every week there's a new AI tool, a new district mandate, a new headline telling you everything is about to change. Artificial intelligence is being shoved into everything, whether we want it or not, and yet we're also seeing a tech backlash where schools are taking instruction offline and returning to paper and pencil.

Somewhere underneath the noise is a question most teachers never get asked: What do YOU believe about this, and why?

That's what these two mornings are for.

Day 1 is about your values. We'll talk about what AI can and cannot do, how it actually works, and help you determine where you land on the spectrum from enthusiast to conscientious objector, along with six strategic stances educators can take beyond just "use it for everything" or "refuse it."

Day 2 shifts to your students. Explore what the learning science says about AI in kids' hands so you can decide whether and how you want to support them in using it, and learn how to help students think about the impact of AI on their cognitive capacity, productive struggle, creativity, and future.

How it works

Instead of cramming everything into a single intense day, this PD runs at a pace that actually lets you think. We start at 10am and finish at 12:30pm ET, so you don't have to wake up early and you're still done before lunch. Use the afternoon for movement, rest, and letting the ideas settle.

  • In-depth trainings

Using both slides and face-to-camera video, I'll guide you through key considerations as you form your ethical stance on AI.

  • Interactive live sessions

Chat with other educators, ask questions, participate in polls, and share your reflections in real time.

  • Access the recordings

The entire training will be available to watch on-demand afterward, so you can revisit the materials whenever you need it.

This isn't a sit-and-get.

And, it's not a how-to.

Most AI trainings answer the question "How do I use this?" Stay Human answers a different one: "How do I think about this?" Each session moves between teaching and real conversation, so you're not just watching me talk about slides for hours. I'll be present throughout, responding to what you're thinking, pushing back, sharing my own stance, and helping you work through yours.

What we'll explore together

  • The six strategic stances: a framework for making consistent ethical decisions about your own AI use
  • Live discussion and Q&A woven throughout

Day 2: Humanizing LEARNING in the Age of AI
Tuesday, July 14 | 10:00am-12:30pm ET

  • What students are actually doing with AI, and what the research says they're losing
  • The neuroscience of productive struggle and what it means for how we think about student AI use
